Cell phone usage is strictly prohibited by the Mobile County Public School System except as part of the Bring Your Own Device program which allows students to use phones or iPads when directed by the instructor during class only.

Students are to keep their cell phone in their book bag and turned off for the entire school day, unless used in the classroom with teacher's direction for an assignment.

Use of such devices outside of class during school hours is a B-6 offense as explained in the MCPSS Student Code of Conduct which was given to every student at the beginning of the school year.

Students will be assigned to Saturday school or suspended for first and subsequent offenses for any violation according to MCPSS policy for any violation of the MCPSS Internet Acceptable Use and Safety Policy or the SMS BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) Student Handbook.

Semmes Middle School will not be held responsible for the loss or breakage of cell phones brought by students.
